Diablo III -- Dragon Staff by rah-bop Diablo III -- Dragon Staff by rah-bop
My friend ~Seattle-Cosplay is a brilliant cosplayer and fashion designer. Last year she decided she wanted to cosplay as the concept art version of the wizard from Diablo III. It's a very detailed costume with many intricate parts, so I teamed up with her to help her make all of the props and accessories.

-------------------------

The object pictured here is the head of her wizard's staff. I sculpted it in sculpey, made a mold and made a hollow cast in polyurethane. It has acrylic eyeballs and a really bright LED array inside, which has three brightness modes that you can toggle with a hidden switch in the handle. The whole staff is 5 feet long and weighs 1.8 lbs. To see the whole staff, please watch this video that D. Davalos helped me make.

This costume won Best of Show at the Sakuracon 2013 costume contest.

Beautiful! So stunning. I've really got to get more practise at casting my sculptures. It's a bit terrifying to me! Thanks for the wonderful walk through!

Absolutely amazing! I was in the audience for Sakuracon 2013 when she won, she was gorgeous!

The walkthrough and progress shots are very interesting, and helpful! I hope to make a wooden staff in the future, and was wondering what materials to use to give it that gnarled look.
