I drew this for *gryphonworks's contest. The object was to create some creature that was red with yellow eyes, silver talons/hooves/fins/whatever, a black mane, and a serpentine tail. I ah... had to take some liberties with the last two.. >.>;
Sketched this in class (that black sliver on the bottom right edge of the picture was the edge of my sketchbook that I overlooked while editing. D'oh!) and colored in openCanvas 1.1. Horray, it looks like oC and I can finally be friends.
When I started drawing this, there was really no meaning behind it. All the background and stuff was just there to make the red fish thing look less naked. As I drew, however, in my mind it kind of became a meeting between two ambassadors (haha, get it? amBASSadors? nyuk nyuk. Hey shut up, it was late.) One friend whom I showed this to said I should title the picture "Mom, can I keep him?" Another friend said that this is a picture of a wedding proposal. ("...It's just so sudden! Oh my, I'm blushing!") So, this picture means whatever you want it to mean.

People always say not to judge a book by it's cover, *rah-bop clearly defines that in Meeting with Skyfish A very interesting concept, with a great mystical feel to it. (Featured by `mirrorkills)
Wow! I love the way you did the clouds, the pink and yellow is gorgeous. As for the fish, it looks incredible! I love the highlighting on the scales, and it looks like you really know fish anatomy, the muscle and structure looks so natural.
Wow, just wow. This really is incredible. The spines on the fish are incredible, I just adore the clouds. Such great coloring and such great details. I so wish I could use OC like this. Nice work.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
