Commission for =Majime -- her character WhiteDemon.

I wish the photos did this thing any justice, because it looks CRAZY COOL in person. It's 9" tall, 5.5" from front to back, and 4.25" across the hood. Made of sculpey and painted mostly with acrylics. He has shiny silvery-white fur and the blue tips on his mane refract greenish hues. (I like using shiny paints when I can get away with it. XB) I also dusted all his scales with powdered bronze and put high-gloss varnish on the inside of his mouth and on his nose and eyes.

Art Rah-Bop
White Demon Majime

p.s. I'm still open for commissions! Price guide!

Very unique idea. Simply awesome! What kind of scraper did you use for the fur?

I made the fur by pressing lines in with a flat tool rather than scraping. I can't even remember which of my tools I used. Just one with a flat edge. How unhelpful I am!

This is amazingly well sculpted, and just as skilfully painted. A lot of sculptures I've seen of Sculpey are either left unpainted, or painted a grey to show the dimensions, but this is simply amazing. I, sir, am in awe, and quite enamoured with this sculpture

I put down chunks of sculpey and then attacked it with a pointy thing to put in hair texture.

YAY, I'm so glad someone else go to see it in real life! That really makes me so happy! The photos are okay but they are a poor substitute for the real thing. It is just so very shiny. And you can't even see the tongue dimples in the photos! XD

Uh, sorry. I'm still really excited about that one. X3;

Thank you so much for the compliments! They mean a lot!

First thing I noticed with the paint job were the shiny scales X3 It's just one of those sculptures you see and must touch.

Can't blame you for being really excited about it XD It really is awesome, dunno how you were able to part with it after finishing it~

I have no idea! Maybe 17 hours from start to finish, including sculpting, baking, and painting time? Maybe something around there, I don't remember.

Whoah, I can imagine what it looks like, having worked in Sculpy myself. Hpw did you get the fur to look so awesome? is it all scratch work?

I really like the model, the character design reminds my of the wolf demons in Mononoke Hime.

Very nice job.

Yep, I scratched it up. I've found that needles and stuff are too skinny, though; I've been using this really cheap plastic sculpting tool thing, which is kind of like a triangle of thick plastic. Once I get all the scratches in, I used a brush dampened with turpenoid to take off the hard edges of the scratches, as well as all they sculpey goobers that accumulate everywhere.

cool, it's funny the sort of things that work vs. don't work.
I worked in stoneware for a bit, and got used to smoothing with water, but I didn't know that you could use turpentine with sculpy. I'll have to keep that in mind :3

Yeah. It kind of dissolves it, actually. If you use it, you have to use it really sparingly and then leave it alone for about an hour or so, so the turpenoid evaporates and the sculpey firms up again. In the meantime it's really mushy.
