Description
11x14" scratchboard with colored inks. It is based on a photograph I took at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh. This was my first try coloring scratchboard and it was kind of an adventure! I used Winsor & Newton drawing inks first but didn't like them, so I switched to Liquitex drawing ink halfway through and liked that much better.
I gave the original to my great aunt for her 100th birthday in early October 2009. Prints are available (note me.)

That’s a beautiful work of art! Did you find it a challenge to switch inks to make it look the way you wanted? Different manufacturers of ink are not the same pigments. I found that out when I was working on a piece called Contentment. Great work!
