I've always loved the idea and the atmosphere that trains and subways have, even though I've never been on one. Their 'aura', if you will, are always so alluring.
Sorry - I'll stop being philisophical now.
My art professors (one in particular) felt it was important for us to learn how to articulate what we were thinking as we created our works. One of his points was that it made us think more carefully about what we were doing throughout the creation process, so we didn't come out with a "just because" type of reasoning. Still, a lot of my classmates really struggled with it.
